East Bengal were all over Sergio Lobera for the past few weeks, but the move could not pan out in the end. They have now appointed their second choice target Carles Cuadrat who has good ISL experience and has shown his abilites as a coach in the past. Cuadrat was associated with Bengaluru FC for four years in the past, one year as an assistant to Albert Roca and three years as the head coach.

Under Cuadrat, Bengaluru FC broke multiple records including the record for the longest number of games unbeaten (11 games) at that time. They also went on a record 17-game unbeaten run at home, which is till date the best in the league. They also managed to win 6 games in a row in the 2018-19 season, which was the club's longest winning streak at that time.

Carles Cuadrat was sacked by Bengaluru FC in the end due to a poor run of results. So he will be determined to get it right this time around with East Bengal and will be hoping to lead the red and gold brigade back to the good old glory days.
